Walking, Levada walks in Madeira
Levadas are man-made water courses designed to bring water from the island’s high interior to the fertile lowlands where it is needed. They track through the landscape with very little gradient although some levada walks involve hilly terrain. As such, they are generally easy to walk and present an extremely gratifying way to explore Madeira’s lush nature. The panoramic views, waterfalls, forests and valleys you will see are really worth the effort!

There are many famous levadas that have their stating point near the hotel, at reception we can give you some advice and keep in mind it is important to travel prepared with hiking attire as well as a good, detailed guide with maps of the levadas. It is a must on the island!
